Becoming a Whole-Life Follower of Jesus
If you've stumbled onto this page, please understand that you're not here by accident. Jesus loves you, and He wants you to have a deep personal relationship with Him. Jesus was born to a virgin and died on the cross to open the way to two things.
He died to give us a Life Abundant first - to free us from the power and penalty of our sin before a Holy and just God the Father - that would keep us from an eternity in heaven. Then to fill our lives - and give us the opportunity to live connected to him in a life giving relationship while we're still here on earth.
You see, there is just one thing that separates you from God that He's overcome, that will begin your journey. That thing is not understanding and believing that Christ is Lord and Savior, and that our sin prevents us from the intimate relationship He wants with us.
People tend to divide themselves into groups - good people and bad people. But God says that every person that has ever lived is a sinner, and any sin separates us from God. That includes you and me. Why? Because God is Holy, and man is not because of our sin.
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
According to man's rules, people should be punished or rewarded according to how good they are. God's Justice is similar - sin has a price - a penalty - and that penalty is eternal separation from good and God. While it might be hard to understand how Jesus could love you when other people don't seem to, God's love also demanded that He provide a solution to our sin problem.
God loves us more than you can ever imagine! And there's nothing you can do to make him stop!
Are you thinking that you should make things right in your life before you come to Jesus? Many people feel that way, but that's not what God says!
"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
For you to come to God you have to believe that Christ is Lord and Savior, as that is what gets rid of your sin problem. Not because I say so - but because we have God's Word on it. God says that you can't make yourself right with God by being a better person. God wants to save you JUST BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU!
"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy." Titus 3:5
It's God's grace that allows you to come to Him - not your efforts to "clean up your life" or work your way to Heaven. You can't earn it. It's a free gift.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
To come before the Throne of the Holy God who created it all, you must believe in the Christ, because in that belief alone, the penalty for your sin has been paid. God's redemptive gift to you. is His son, Jesus, who paid the debt for you on the cross at Calvary.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
Jesus paid the price for your sin and mine by giving His life on Calvary's cross. Just as God brought Jesus back from the dead and paved the way for you to have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus, so too will you live in heaven for eternity.
Maybe for you there is a hard part --- accepting the gift that Jesus is holding out for you right now.
"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-1
God says that if you believe in His son, Jesus, you can live forever with Him in glory, and your sins, past, present and future are ALL forgiven - paid for on the cross as Christ bore each sin in His horrible hours hanging there for you and me.
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
Are you ready to accept the gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering you right now? If it is your sincere desire to ask Jesus to come into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, then talk to God from your heart:
Here's a Suggested Prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I know that, by your righteousness, I am a sinner and I do not deserve heaven and eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to offer redemption for all mankind including me. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and show me how to grow close to you, that I might become a bold witness of what you did on the cross for me. I am now placing my trust in You alone, and I accept your free gift of eternal life and want to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ."
If you have trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please let us know. We want to rejoice in what God has done in your life and help you to grow spiritually. NOW, it is time to allow Him to work in your life - to help you mature into the man or woman He created you to be.
Once Jesus met a woman at a well and as she offered Him a drink of water, He told her:
"Everyone who drinks of this [well] water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13
"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" John 7:38
He will help you live differently from this point on in your life.
To grow in our faith and mature does take effort on our part. It's not what we do, it's what we become in our heart before God that is the determining factor on our maturity. We recommend daily Bible reading and meditating on what you've read, with time alone with God to pray and give thanks for His saving Grace. God reveals more and more to us about living a life distinct from the world, and honoring God as we mature in Christ, reading the Bible, praying, worshiping and fellowshipping with other Christians.
The more we hunger for a deeper relationship with God, the more He pours into us, and the more fulfilling and abundant our lives become. Choose this day to begin your relationship with Christ, and read and pray often (daily would be good) to learn and grow.
If you'd like to hear a powerful message on nurturing your soul, we invite you to listen to Dr. Dallas Willard, a professor of Philosophy at USC on that topic. As you listen, ask God to reveal what He wants you to hear. Over the years as I've listened to it, I continue to find something new that God wants me to focus on - and trust that you will also. The second link below is a pamphlet, written by George Müller in 1841 on Soul Nourishment. It's a PDF formatted file, that you may download and print. I think you'll enjoy both.
May you know the blessings of Christ in your daily life,
